Clarity
I help you express complex ideas with precision and clarity, so your message lands with impact.
About the Distillery
I’m Jeremy Hawkins, founder and lead editor at the Distillery. For over a decade, I’ve worked with authors, creatives, researchers, businesses, and other organizations to shape ideas into clear, compelling writing.
My background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and years of professional experience as a writer, copyeditor, and developmental editor for publishers, universities, nonprofits, and independent writers. My debut novel, The Last Days of Video, was published by Soft Skull Press (Counterpoint) in 2015. My writing has appeared in Electric Lit, Diagram, Independent Ink Magazine, and many other venues, and screenplays I’ve written have finished in the final rounds of the Nicholl Fellowship and the Austin Film Festival Script Competition.
Originally from Durham, North Carolina, I now live in Florence, Italy. And for more reasons than I could explain over a single night of drinks, I feel very lucky to be alive—and editing for a living.
