What people have said
“I've had the pleasure of working with Jeremy for many years. He is consistently accurate, reliable, and meticulous in his work. Deadlines are always met, communication is easy, and I know I can trust him to deliver polished, high-quality copy every time. I recommend him without hesitation.”
Executive Director of Content Development, MPS Limited
“Jeremy provided great feedback and edits on my book proposal that definitely made the narrative stronger. It was wonderful to have a great writing partner to create better storytelling and to bring scenes in my family memoir to life. I'll definitely be working with The Distillery as my book project moves forward.”
Kristin Battista-Frazee, Pornographer's Daughter
“As a writer of fiction, essays, and book reviews, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of magazine editors. I’ve also had the chance to sit on the other side of the table, both as an editor at a nationally renowned literary journal, and as a teacher of creative writing and literature at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. What I’ve learned is simple: Good editors make good writing better.
Jeremy Hawkins has a keen understanding of both creative and critical writing, and he knows how to make good writing better. You will be dealing someone who knows how much your writing means to you, and who also has the know-how to cut through the bull and bring out the best in your work.”
Johannes Lichtman, Calling Ukraine and Such Good Work
“A funny, surprisingly tender debut novel… The characters have enough heart and vivid imperfections to make their story irresistibly engaging. They careen from one encounter to another, propelled by a generous dose of nostalgia, loud humor and narrative energy, but they're given the depth to make casually beautiful phrases ring true. A novel that manages to be both very funny and very sad, with an unrepentant belief in both movies and love served with a cleverness and irreverence that are difficult to resist.”
Kirkus, Starred Review for The Last Days of Video, a novel by Jeremy Hawkins
“Distillery Editing helped me improve one of my novels, in regards to story structure, character development and more. I was very happy with the results and would use their services again in a heartbeat.”
Terry O. Scott, co-author of On Both Sides of the Diagnosis
My philosophy
Whether I’m editing a scientific paper, developing a screenplay, polishing a business report, or helping an author find exactly the right sentence, my goal is always the same:
